  1. I used to make this bread years ago, but haven’t or quite sometime. However I will try this recipe tomorrow becuse it is very much like the one I used to make. Wish me luck! I will comment on the results later.

  2. Hi, I did try the recipe today and it turned out fantastic. I would definitely give it five stars. Will bake it again. It looks delicious, haven’t tasted it yet, but I know it will be yummy. Thanks for the recipe.

  3. We traveled across Newfoundland, from Argentia to Port Aux Basque, and many places inbetween, last Sept. After finding this recipe and trying it, there will never be another Raisin Bread in this house. It is the most delicious bread we have ever baked.

    1. Hi Jim –

I’m happy to hear you’ve enjoyed the molasses raisin bread, as well had the opportunity to experience Newfoundland. Happy travels wherever 2013 takes you.

  4. I’m trying this recipe but there are some discrepancies. Ingredient list calls for 2 cups lukewarm water. Directions talk about 3 cups. Ingredient list includes 1/4 c brown sugar. No mention in the directions of the sugar.
Not sure whether to proceed with this or not. Time is ticking and since I already have the yeast dissolved, I might have to go find me another recipe to use today.

  5. Hi Norma

the top ingredients (yeast and sugar combo) call for 1 cup of water and the dry ingredients mix with 2 cups. Total of 3 cups once you add the water you dissolved the yeast in. 🙂
