It’s Lobster Season!

The lobster pots are neatly stacked along the wharves in many tiny fishing villages or re-settled communities that re-populate during the fishing season.

Places like Josephine’s Cove and Barr’d Harbour will be very busy in the coming weeks, especially when the lobster pots hit the water. There are many women, men and even children that are involved as boats load and go during opening day. There’s always a task for a willing hand.

In recent years, catches of lobster are on the increase as the water temperatures are changing and seems this species is slowly moving north.

Lobster is a delicacy and the pristine taste and flavour of a fresh Newfoundland lobster is one you will want to add to your experience list.

I wish our fishers a safe and successful season on the water.
