Many people find themselves at Western Brook to walk to the pond for the boat tour and experience what were once fjords. It is a trip well worth taking!
However, a little further north to the left is a parking lot for Western Brook and it will lead you to a beautiful sandy beach that neighbours the fishing village of Boom Point. It’s a hidden gem!
This is a place I’ve passed by on hundreds of trips up and down the Viking Trail but never took the time to experience it until now. I highly recommend that you make footprints in the sand.
Parks Canada is undergoing sand dune stabilization and warms of a strong undertow. There are also rare birds in the area.
Enjoy the sights and surroundings and fall in love with beautiful Gros Morne National Park on the Great Northern Peninsula.
