Mudder Wet Path – A Route Along the Aquaforte River

Mom and I at the Aquaforte River

Another section of the East Coast Trail is a segment of the Spurwink Island Trail that goes from Route 10 near the Welcome to Aquaforte sign in the south, back to Aquaforte via the river route. It’s 5.1 KM return. It is known as Mudder Wet Path. Don’t let the name discourage you.

The trail was quite dry, despite the name. There were some areas that could use from clearing to improve the overall trail conditions. It was nice to walk through the forests and capture views along the river. We took a walk down below. Going down wasn’t difficult, but going up the stairs were more daunting. One of the highlights were berries along the way. I wish we stopped to pick some fresh blueberries.

The route will take you down a gravel road or ATV trail, past properties that may be residents or those with cottages, as they are more difficult to access. You can walk through the community and see fishing sheds and properties along the waterfront.

The East Coast Trail is more than 300 KM of trails over 25 pathways. For more information visit: The East Coast Trail.
