Our Visit to the North Atlantic Aviation Museum

Gander, NL promotes itself at the “Crossroads of the World” as it has an International Airport and a long history of flight. On our way back to the Great Northern Peninsula we stopped by the North Atlantic Aviation Museum. To no surprise, it was closed. Too often are operators closing at Labour Day versus expanding business into mid-late October.

As a frequent flyer, I like to travel to places in the off-season. In 2010, my mother and I travelled to France, England, Ireland and Northern Ireland. We experienced less congestion, lower accommodation and food costs, no issue with obtaining a rental car and had a formidable experience. It is time for Newfoundland & Labrador to market the fall and winter seasons as options for the traveller abroad.

I enjoyed the sight of a bright orange water plane. There is one very similar at the Town of St. Anthony for viewing en route to Fishing Point.

In season, you might want to explore the Museum or participate in Gander’s Festival of Flight.
