I Found a Little Heart in Stanleyville

The Stanleyville Trail in Gros Morne National Park begins at the day-use area of the Lomond Campground. This trail is about 5 KM return.

There are facilities to use before you depart and a primitive camping option upon arrival to Stanleyville. This trail panel describes the community as a small logging town in the early 1900s that have since been abandoned for more than 80 years. You can explore the area and maybe find pieces of old logging equipment and machinery. For me, I loved the view of Payne’s Cove and walking through a mix of old growth and newer forest where domestic cutting occurs. It really showed an interesting contrast of vegetation in both areas. I would recommend Stanleyville Trail to anyone. You can easily purchase your Park Pass upon entry.
