Trout River has an abundance of walking and hiking trails. A local favourite is the steps up the hill to a rock known as the Old Man. Apparently there was a partner rock that collapsed and was known as the Old Woman. Now standing solo, the Old Man stands watch over Trout River.
The trail continues past a field and into the forests until you see the lighthouse. The coastline around the lighthouse offers beautiful views and at sunset surely there are panoramas to be captured.
On the return loop you walk along the shoreline and get views below of the community, the fishing boats, woodpiles and the surrounding mountains.
