The Highlands Walking Trail is 1.4 KM return that starts near the United church at Perry’s Cove. This trail is just off Route 70 and has a sign to welcome you with some community information.
The trail passes along some older traditional style NL homes, pasture land and heads down a pathway to a blow hole, witches rock and ends up at a root cellar.
Before arriving to the 100 year old root cellar there is a panel that draws your attention to an island that resembles the Newfoundland dog.
The final viewpoint takes you past old family homesteads and some marked grave sites of those earlier settlers to the root cellar.
It’s a short trail of 1.4 KM return, certainly not difficult and has a lot to offer. Next time when you’re in the Conception Bay North area, visit the Higlands of Perry’s Cove.
