Merry Christmas from the Mitchelmore’s!

My Christmas tree has been transformed when I stopped collecting shot glasses and began collecting Christmas ornaments from around Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as those from international travels.

My tree is now filled with hundreds of ornaments. As the boxes are unpacked, so too are many memories for more than a decade. As the hand painted glass ball from Prague gets placed, I recall the country and time where I really learned about culture, made lasting international friendships and reminds me of a place that keeps calling me home. I love my suitcase, train, airplane, passport and ornaments associated with travel. I’ve visited so many countries and have ornaments that bring memories of these places when they are hung. It’s a wonderful tradition.

I still place ornaments that were from childhood, some made by hand. As well as many gifts and those I’ve purchased that are quintessentially Newfoundland and Labrador.

My Christmas tree has become a focal point for me during the holidays and one that is truly unique. Start your own tradition, make memories that last a lifetime.
